Paringa Estate

November 6, 2024 Eat Drink Magazine

As you approach Paringa Estate, a sense of refinement and excellence welcomes you. Nestled in the heart of Red Hill South, this acclaimed destination has garnered numerous awards for its wines and dining experience.

Established 40 years ago by winemaking pioneer Lindsay McCall, the estate sits on a 4ha former apple orchard, now home to a vineyard with rich, unirrigated volcanic soil. This north-facing amphitheatre has been the foundation of the estate’s high-quality wines.

At Paringa Estate, attention to detail is paramount. The grapes are hand-picked, and the wines are crafted under three distinct series: the Peninsula Series, Estate Series, and the premium Single Vineyard Series (The Paringa Selection). The latest addition to the wine portfolio, LJM, is an exceptional blend of the finest single-vineyard pinot noir from the stellar 2022 vintage, marking a special collaboration between Lindsay and his son, Jamie, now the head winemaker. LJM, named after their combined initials, represents decades of Lindsay’s experience and Jamie’s flair and innovation.

The estate's elevated restaurant offers breathtaking vineyard views, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious deck that invites you to savour the surrounding scenery. Head chef Nick McGonigal curates a menu that highlights local and seasonal produce with classic techniques and modern flavour pairings. The restaurant offers a la carte options during the week, as well as a stunning progression degustation experience on the weekends, and a garden menu for those dining on the deck highlights small plates of seasonal dishes of the finest local produce and encourages sharing.

Paringa Estate combines remarkable wines, delicious food and beautiful vistas, making it a must-visit destination for an unforgettable day out.

Opening hours: cellar door daily 11am-5pm; restaurant Wednesday-Sunday for lunch, Saturday for dinner
